For Prospective PhD Students

We accept PhD students through the graduate programs at our respective institutions:

UT Austin — Department of Government Apply through the Government PhD program. Mention interest in the AI & Global Development Lab in your application.

Linköping University — Institute for Analytical Sociology Apply through the IAS doctoral program.

Harvard — Department of Statistics Apply through the Statistics PhD program.

For Postdoctoral Researchers

We occasionally have postdoctoral positions funded through grants. If you have your own funding or are applying for fellowships, we’re happy to discuss hosting arrangements.

Ideal candidates have:

  • Strong methodological training (statistics, machine learning, econometrics)
  • Interest in global development applications
  • Experience with satellite imagery, survey data, or both
  • Commitment to open science and reproducible research

For Research Assistants

We hire undergraduate and graduate research assistants on a project basis. RA positions typically involve:

  • Data processing and cleaning
  • Literature reviews
  • Software development and testing
  • Visualization and mapping
